This morning when I woke up I looked at my cell phone. Before checking missed calls, missed text, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or my email, I checked my you version Bible. Daily scripture Isaiah 1:18 Come now let us reason together says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet they shall be white as snow.
Intrigued, I had to read more. Isaiah. 1:16-20 "Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, Learn to do good; seek justice, rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow. "Come now, and let us reason together," says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword"; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
My father and I have this song we love, Frank Sinatra I did it my way. My mother, I'm sure at one point in time loved the song as well. One day many years ago, she explained to me the idea of doing it your way, was not God's way. My father and I would stand together and sing this song to my mom knowing it aggravate her. It did so because she knew we were doing it our way not Gods way.
Years later, I have surrendered myself to God while trying to walk in his likeness each day. I learned this morning while reading this scripture. With all Im trying to do right I still sin as we all do everyday without even realizing it. No one likes to be told how to live, each of us have our own belief on how to do it. For most of us, as long as everything is ok we are doing good. My father used to ask me every day, How was your day? My answer it was ok. How was school/work? ok. How are you? ok. His response was your always ok, is there ever a time your not ok? In reality I never was ok because I was living so wrong, even when I wasn't doing what the world sees as really wrong.
Almost everything we do is acceptable to us, that's why we do it. We decide what is right or wrong in our eyes. We live each day making our choices some based on Gods way and others based on whats right to us. What line are you willing to cross? How far is to far? How much is to much? We as a society look at people and judge them for their actions. The man that raped a child, The man that robbed a house, The man that stole from his mother, The man that committed adultery, The man that had sex out of wedlock, That man that sold drugs, The man that lusted after someone but did not act on it, the man that lied, the man that simply carries hate in his heart toward another that hurt him. It is all sin no matter how big or how small. So how big is to big for you?
God loves a sinner but wants the sin that we live in to be removed. Jesus died for our sins so that we could be forgiven. 1 Peter 2:24, "and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed." I know that I have to begin to be more conscious of the things I do and say. Is this right in my eyes or in God's eyes? Try to ask yourself that as you go about your day. You may be amazed by the answer if you are true to not only yourself but to God.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! This is awesome. It amazes me to see what God is doing in you. It amazes me to see how you are submitting to the Lord. To God be the Glory!!!!!
